Warren Salter Artist

Warren Salter, born in 1958 in Smithton, Tasmania, was naturally gifted as an artist.

"My true formative training was borne out of an obsession with painting and drawing prolifically from my earliest childhood memories, leading me into an intimate lifetime relationship with the mystery that is art."

Warren's high school years saw the beginnings of entrepreneurship, where his daily (and nightly) creations were sought after and sold to fellow students and their parents.

Warren attributes much of his success to what he says is his good fortune of studying under the late, great and well-regarded Tasmanian painter Geoff Dyer during his undergraduate years.

"Geoff would take groups of selected students under his wing with encouragement, critique and trips interstate to view masters such as Boyd, Streeton, Olsen, Picasso, and others being exhibited at various interstate galleries. This all had a very vindicating and galvanising effect on my young self, and cemented my inner and outer identity as an artist for life."

For over 35 years, Warren has worked as a full-time professional artist and has exhibited extensively in various galleries here in Australia and abroad.

Currently, Warren's taking a more selective approach to his representation, and we are thrilled that Curate Art & Design gallery is included in that selection.
